Kate McNeil in A Walton Easter

In 1997, Kate McNeil co-starred in A Walton Easter, the final of three 1990s Waltons reunion movies, preceded by A Walton Wedding in 1995 and A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion in 1993. The first TV movie saw Kate McNeil's character Janet Gilchrist getting engaged to John-Boy Walton (played by Richard Thomas) and the second movie was all about their wedding. In A Walton Easter, Janet and John-Boy are about to have their first child and experience some marital difficulties when John-Boy decides he wants to move back to rural Virginia from New York City.

Kate McNeil on Quantum Leap

In what was to be one of the final episodes of the show, Kate McNeil guest starred on Quantum Leap in 1993. The episode 'The Leap Between the States' was one of only two episodes of the show where the perpetual time-traveler Sam Beckett (played by Scott Bakula) leaped out of his lifetime, this time jumping into the Civil War. Here he assumes the identity of his great-grandfather and must woo his great grandmother (played by Kate McNeil), deal with the slavery issue and fend off an evil Confederate lieutenant.

Kate McNeil had developed her Southern-style acting persona for North and South Book II back in 1986. She has also utilized a Southern accent for a brief guest appearance on Designing Women in 1989. On Quantum Leap, she practically reprised her North and South role and perhaps that is why she was thought of for the part.

Kate McNeil would later appear on a 2005 episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, a show which starred Scott Bakula.

Kate McNeil in A Walton Wedding

In 1995, Kate McNeil co-starred in the second of a trilogy of 1990s Waltons reunion TV movies. She also appeared in the previous A Walton Thanksgiving movie and would also star in the third a final Waltons TV movie, A Walton Easter. Kate McNeil plays Janet Gilchrist and in A Walton Thanksgiving, she and John-Boy Walton (played by Richard Thomas) had decided to get married. Set in 1964, A Walton Wedding is about their wedding and the trials and tribulations of actually getting to the altar.

Janet, a fashion magazine editor and daughter and only child of a US ambassador to small African country, has an aunt named Flo (played by Holland Taylor). Aunt Flo, who has no children of her own, decides to plan  the Walton wedding when Janet's parents announce that they will not be able to attend the wedding. When Aunt Flo goes overboard with the planning, John-Boy and Janet decide to move the wedding from New York City to Waltons' mountain in rural Virginia. While on Waltons' mountain, both Janet and John-Boy have some second thoughts about getting married, but they eventually put aside their doubts and have a lovely wedding ceremony.
